Lady Silverhand remains seated at the head of the table.
She waits until the room settles fully before she speaks. When she does, her voice is even and unadorned.
“Before we talk about what comes next, this council needs to be clear on what has already happened.”
She lets the silence hold for a moment.
“Varram the White has been captured.”
A few heads lift.
“He is alive. He is contained. He is being questioned.”
Her eyes briefly meet the party’s. It is acknowledgement, nothing more.
“The white dragon Arauthator is dead.”
That draws more reaction.
“He was slain in the Sea of Moving Ice. His hoard has been recovered, documented, and in accordance with our previous agreement, portions are already being returned to the people harmed by the cult’s raids.”
There is relief in the room. It does not last.
“Separately, the green dragon Chuth has been slain in the Misty Forest.”
All eyes turn, briefly and instinctively, toward King Melandrach.
He does not respond.
“With Chuth’s death, the raids against the elven forests have ended.”
Lady Silverhand pauses, then continues.
“The wyrmspeaker responsible for those attacks, Neronvain, was not killed.”
She does not soften the words.
“That fact is acknowledged.”
Another quiet moment passes.
“We have also confirmed the cause of the deaths of several aides within Neverwinter Hall.”
Dagult Neverember remains still.
“The infiltration was infernal in nature. A succubus, acting independently of the cult, embedded herself within our political structures.”
A low murmur ripples around the table.
“That threat has been dealt with.”
Lady Silverhand folds her hands.
“These are not rumours. They are not hopeful projections.”
She looks slowly around the chamber.
“They are confirmed events.”
Finally, she looks back to the adventurers.
“You have delivered results where this council could not.”
Her tone tightens, just slightly.
“That does not mean the situation is resolved.”
She straightens.
“The war has not stopped. It has changed.”
Silence settles over the chamber once more.
“With that understood,” she says quietly,
“we will continue.”
